Maria Grazia Chiuri's latest collection takes us on a journey through Dior's storied heritage, reconstructed for today's modern woman. Inspired by the resilience of three post-war clients, including Catherine Dior, Juliette Gréco, and Edith Piaf, Chiuri's designs address both the somber present and the 1950s, creating a powerful and sexy Parisian look. The collection features vintage-inspired designs with modern twists, such as rumpled surfaces achieved by interweaving ultra-modern fabrics with metal thread. The clothes are light, embodying Chiuri's Italian background, and feature accessories such as platform-soled ankle-strapped shoes and jewelry with miniature Eiffel Towers. The show is arched over by a humungous and colorful fabric sculpture installation commissioned by the Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos, creating a cozily protective and affirmative female presence.
